Listing Policy

You hereby affirm and declare that you will not list, post, or provide information relating to the sale, purchase, or exchange of goods and services, content, or information that are illegal under the laws of the Republic of India and/or not permitted as per the prohibited items policy listed below while using our Site and other services.

1. Prohibited Items Policy.

A. We strictly forbid the following types of classified listings and postings:

  • You may not promote or advertise any products or services that are illegal in any jurisdiction where you operate, such as alcoholic beverages, tobacco products, drugs, psychotropic substances, narcotics, intoxicants of any description, medicines, palliative/curative substances, or descriptions thereof. 

Laws regarding alcohol control

- Liquor Act (1924),

- Palm Wine Act (1927),

- Liquor Licensing Act (1960),

- Public Order Act (1965), and

- Road Traffic Act (2007).

- National Drugs Control Act (2008)

  • Any human being, whether alive or dead, and any human being's blood, bodily fluids, or body parts that have been stored or preserved using any method, artificial or natural.
  • Services related to prostitution or the exploitation of women is illegal in Sierra Leone due to their violation of the country's Immoral Act and its ban on indecent depictions of women.
  • Books, artifacts, and other religious goods, as well as descriptions or other information about these items that could offend someone or a group because of their religious beliefs.
  • Films that do not meet the standard of the Sierra Leone Film Industry or describe and depict or otherwise deal with matters which are revolting or repulsive and/or tend to deprave a person's mind in such a way as to offend against the standards of morality, decency, and propriety generally accepted by reasonable adults are covered by the Mature Audiences Policy.
  • Goods or services that are fake, pirated, or stolen; or that are provided illegally (services for which you are not licensed or permitted to do or do not have the authority to under take).
  • Items with indecent depictions of women as defined by The Sexual Offences Act, 2012; any publication, film, or item that describes or depicts a minor who is, or who appears to be, under the age of 18 (whether the minor is engaged in sexual activity or not); and any uploaded games/videos not suitable for minors.
  • Extending damage to a computer or network, or stealing private information, through the electronic transmission of a computer virus or other computer program that aids hacking of a computer system.
  • Goods, materials, and services that infringe on the intellectual property, publicity, moral, or privacy rights of others, or that are falsely advertised as coming from such parties, are prohibited.
  • Explosives, Destructive Devices, and Fireworks, as well as any Components Necessary for Their Fabrication.
  • Badges, uniforms, coats of arms, and other identifying features of the military or police cannot be sold in violation of trademark laws.
  • Slot Machines, Lottery Tickets, and Sweepstakes Entries
  • Cultural property that is illegally bought and sold is considered to be a form of "illicit trafficking."
  • The sale of firearms, ammunition, gun parts, magazines, tear gas, shock guns, switchblade knives, and other lethal weapons is not allowed.
  • Personal Information, Financial Data, and Identification Documents (in any form, including mailing lists)
  • Fraud, spam, and other forms of online abuse and duplication in listing databases (e.g. "Get rich quick" "work at homes" scams which are solely listed for the purpose of duping users)
  • Scams such as "Pyramid schemes," "Multilevel marketing," and "similar schemes" that are listed with the express intent of scamming users are not allowed to be featured.
  • Your information must be free of any hate speech, including any that is threatening, harassing, or otherwise offensive.
  • Disparaging, libelous, threatening, or abusive language or content.
  • Error in Listing City or Location (listing allowed only in the city you are based in, of listing)
  • No International Listings are permitted.
  • Goods and services belonging to someone else and the user has no claim to it will not be approved.
  • Unsuitable, Incorrect Classification (e.g dining table listed as office furniture).
  • Information that is false or misleading in some way, especially about the nature or intended use of the good or service.
  • Is dangerous for kids;
  • Acted contrary to any current law;
  • Deceives or misleads the addressee as to the sender's identity, or knows and purposefully conveys any material that is obviously false or deceptive but could be mistaken for fact;
  • Pretends to be someone else;
  • Written or published in any form with the intent to deceive or harass another person, business, or government agency for the purpose of financial gain or personal injury.
  • Contains any computer code, file, or program designed to disrupt, destroy, or restrict the operation of any computer system;
  • That endangers Sierra Leone's "unity, integrity, defense, security, or sovereignty," "friendly relations with foreign States," "public order," "incites the commission of any cognizable offence," "prevents investigation of any offence," or "insults other nation;"
  • Any posting relating to or encouraging money laundering or gambling, or is otherwise inconsistent with or illegal; is defamatory, obscene, pornographic, pedophilic, invasive of another's privacy, including bodily privacy, insulting, or harassing on the basis of gender; is libelous; is racially or ethnically objectionable;
  • Violates the rights of a third party, such as a patent, trademark, or copyright holder;

 

B. Without limiting the generality of the foregoing, the following categories of classified ads are not allowed on Salone Goo:

  • Companies Act 2009 “debenture” includes debenture stock, bonds and any other securities of a company whether constituting a charge on the assets of the company or not;
  • Rugs, skins, specimens, antlers, horns, hair, feathers, nails, teeth, musk, eggs, nests, and other animal products of any sort whose sale and purchase is prohibited or limited in any way, whether living or dead and whether kept or preserved by artificial or natural means.

 

C. Your listing, information, Advertisement

  • Must not be libelous, slanderous, obscene, or harassing in any way. Not to mention, you can't try to sell something that's not yours or that you don't have the right to sell, such fake products or services or ones that were stolen. In addition, it won't violate anybody else's right to privacy or publicity, or anyone's intellectual property, trade secrets, or other proprietary rights.
  • Advertisement must not contains any malicious software such as viruses, Trojan horses, worms, time bombs, cancel bots, easter eggs, or any other similar computer code designed to cause harm, interfere with, steal, or expropriate any system, data, or personal information.
  • Any advertisement may not contain any hate speech, disparaging language, or defamation against any person or group. Inciting violence against other users, individuals, or communities is not acceptable.

2. To further clarify, all Users are required to follow the following guidelines while posting listings:

  • Restricted Item Policy: Users must also abide by the Restricted Item Policy while listing, uploading, or providing information related to any goods or services, in addition to the Prohibited Item Policy outlined above.
  • Duplicate Ad listings are not allowed: We do not permit the posting of identical classified ads. For the purposes of this definition, a "Duplicate Ad" is defined as an ad that has been posted more than once with the same content or Title in the same city and category. Only if you're selling numerous distinct things or services should you create multiple adverts. In the event that this issue persists, all duplicate ads will be removed, and the original posters will be punished.
  • Mature Audience/Sexually oriented material: Classified ads with adult content, such as those selling or giving away products with a sexual overtone, would be banned. (A classified ad to buy or sell a vibrator would be an example of a classified ad for an item that is not typically allowed.) The listing title, including any explicit adult content, must be deemed improper.

3. Details to be provided by the Seller:

  • Product-specific contractual details, if available.
  • Price of a product or service, including all mandatory and optional fees, as well as any applicable tax, broken down individually.
  • Including, but not limited to, the expiration date of the good being offered for sale and other required notices and information provided by applicable laws.
  • Full description of the given products and services, including their country of origin.
  • The Seller's designated complaint officer, together with their contact information and names and titles, should also be included.
  • In the case of imported goods, the importer's name and contact information, as well as any warranties or guarantees associated with the products' authenticity or genuineness, must be provided.
  • Information on how to return an item and get a refund, as well as any associated shipping expenses.
  • Information that is pertinent to the shipping and delivery of said product or service.
  • Any applicable guarantees and warranties for the products or services in question.
  • If the company is a legal entity.
  • Physical address.
  •  
  • Rating/aggregated feedback
  • The content accurately reflects the nature and qualities of the offered products.

 

4. Consequences of Breach of Listing Policy

  • The following actions may be taken against users who breach the Prohibited Items Policy or Restricted Items Policy:

1)  Disabled or closed account.

2)  A permanent ban on using the platform.

3)  Informing the Police or Other Relevant Authorities.

4)  Disciplinary measures will be taken as specified in the TOS.
